Guidance is provided below on rating the impacts of weather events and climatic changes on your supply chain.
Assessing severity of impacts
The severity rating is subjective and based on your experience. An impact of low severity may have caused minor disruptions to supply chain processes, while a severe impact may have caused significant losses and disruption.
Assessing flow-on effect
A direct impact at one stage of the supply chain may result in effects or impacts on the stages that follow. These are the flow-on effects. For example, a direct impact at the farming level may lead to reduced volumes at harvesting, which could then effect the efficiency of the logistics and manufacturing stages and so on.
